The Red Bull Italy SailGP team has been officially acquired by a consortium of investors and leaders of the sports industry, including the famous Hollywood actress, Anne Hathaway. The consortium is led by Muse Capital’s founding partner, Assia Grazioli Venier and the luxury brand’s entrepreneur, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, with one of the world’s most decorated sailors and SailGP icon, Jimmy Spithill, as CEO and co-owner.
The new ownership group brings together a strong combination of elite sports leadership, entrepreneurial vision and celebrity, with great expertise in brand and media creation. The acquisition also marks a first for the world championship, with Red Bull Italy SailGP led by a group of women and given the growing commercial viability of the mixed championship.
The group of investors includes MFO Certuity, Yeh Capital, Alexander Gilkes, Evan Yurman, and global business, sports, and celebrity leaders, including Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman, actress Miriam Leone, Julie Eddleman, Heather Karatz, Pete Delgrosso and Dr. Jennifer Ashton.

With Red Bull as its title partner, the team’s ambition is to become one of the most innovative and brand-driven presences in the championship. The “Made in Italy” consortium combines expertise not only in the world of elite sport and cutting-edge technology, but also in culturally resonant stories and first-class entertainment – a model representation of a new generation of globally ambitious sports enterprises.

Today’s news follows a period of significant growth for SailGP, including a record number of team sales. The Rolex SailGP Championship returns next month with the sixth round of the 2025 season, the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix tournament on June 7-8, before the start of the summer European events in Portsmouth, UK, July 19-20.
