We have often talked about watches and we will do it again, but now is the time for a foray into the world of belts. And we turn our attention to a name with resonance in the field.
Passion can lead to much bigger projects than you ever imagined. This was also the case with Totte el Siddig and Roger Clementz, who knew each other through their passion for watches. It turned out that they also saw an opportunity for watch straps to play a more integral role in the story of the watch as a whole, and that’s where REM Scandinavian Watch Straps was born.
REM, a name with resonance in the world of watch straps
Although the label of “Scandinavian” is strictly correct, REM watch straps are an authentic local product. Because a network of collaborating partners contributes to their realization. With El Siddig responsible for design and Clementz’s engineering expertise, they work together with specialist suppliers and processors to deliver the desired quality.
The leather itself comes from Tärnsjö, a Swedish village that has made a name for itself since 1873 thanks to its high-quality skins. This quality speaks for itself, as all skins, a byproduct of the local meat industry, are tanned and treated using herbal methods.
In addition, Tärnsjö is also the only place in Scandinavia with a saddlery school. The belts then move on to the Kallfelds leather in Nissafors, located in Småland, where the surface is treated and the tapes are perforated. Then, it’s the turn of the REM specialty, laser engraving, sewing, and final finishing that sets their straps apart.

Craftsmanship at the highest level
Their collection starts with “Simple Swedish”, highlighting the unique quality of the leather used, with just a few decorative stitches. In the “Embossed” collection, texture is added. It is available in different styles, from dots and waves to hourglasses and reliefs that resemble braided leather.
With the “Laser Engraved” collection, we head to the essence of REM straps. The “Air Legends” collection is aimed at those who like a pilot’s watch. The straps pay homage to famous aircraft, such as the Mustang and Spitfire, all available in different colors and sizes. More fanciful is the “Bear Force” collection, in which a cute teddy bear is at the helm of an airplane. Laser engraving not only provides great detail, but also a beautiful contrast to the skin color itself.
Thanks to their themed design, the straps naturally match watches in the same category. While the “Lunar DNA” seems like an obvious choice for any Speedmaster fan, the “Flat Six Generations” will not only appeal to Porsche fans in general, but also to those who like watches with “a need for speed”, such as the TAG Heuer Monaco or the Chopard Mille Miglia. A special “Firenze Legends” collection is intended for Panerai, even giving you the opportunity to get a strap with the reference number corresponding to your watch, filled with luminous paint.
For those who want a more personal touch, custom straps are an option. In the “Personalization” section, the text and data can be laser engraved on the strap and colored in the desired shade. For those who want to dedicate themselves completely, “Design Studio” is the best option, as it allows you to collaborate with El Siddig to create the belt of your dreams. Prices start at €96 for the “Plain Swedish” variant, reaching €144 for the “Bear Force”, and other laser-engraved straps are slightly smaller or larger, up to €260 for the “Design Studio” option.
