Rolls-Royce and Sanlorenzo go further

Rolls-Royce and Sanlorenzo extend the contract for yacht propulsion systems until the end of 2028.

Sanlorenzo and Rolls-Royce have already had a partnership for years. And a sign that everything is going well is the new framework agreement signed by the two companies. It aims to supply mtu engines, mtu automation and mtu exhaust after-treatment systems for another four years.

“We are delighted that Sanlorenzo continues to rely on our mtu engines. Yacht operators benefit from our power, reliability and fuel efficiency, as well as our worldwide service network,” said Denise Kurtulus, Senior Vice President Global Marine at Rolls-Royce Power Systems.

Among the yachts equipped with mtu Series 2000 and 4000 engines are the Alloy 44/48 and 1150 EXP models and the largest Sanlorenzo yacht to date, Steel, which can be up to 74 meters long. All mtu engines are HVO approved. IMO-III compliant mtu propulsion solutions with a SCR mtu system are available as an option.

The yacht sector is experiencing a phase of great technological innovation, especially in terms of sustainability. Sanlorenzo has always been a pioneer in state-of-the-art solutions, and with our “Road 2030” project we are guiding the sector towards the green revolution. However, we are convinced that in order to do this, it is essential to join forces with the entire supply chain and engage all actors in the sector to discuss and share common goals “, commented Massimo Perotti, Executive President of Sanlorenzo. „ In this context, reliable and efficient engines will continue to be essential. That is why we continue to offer our customers mtu propulsion systems. Our collaboration with Rolls-Royce is based on the mutual trust we have maintained for decades.

Some specifications about the engines

The mtu 2000 Series engine is specially designed for small and medium-sized ships in the power range of 452 kW to 1,939 kW , while the mtu 4000 Series engine is designed for larger ships and higher power requirements in the range of approximately 720 kW to 4,300 kW .
