With immediate effect, Norbert Leifeld will take over as CEO from Michael Müller. Together with Thorsten Gatz (CFO), he will manage the shipyard in the future.
Norbert Leifeld has been COO of Bavaria Yachts since 2023 and previously worked for 15 years as a consultant in the field of strategy, development and product production at Germany’s most renowned shipyard.
At Bavaria Holding, he is also President of the Company for the French catamaran shipyard Nautitech. Thorsten Gatz has been in charge of the shipyard’s finances since 2022.
Made in Germany
Bavaria Yachts is the most famous shipyard for sailing yachts and motorboats from 30 to 57 feet in Germany. The company is known for its high quality, innovative technology, and eye-catching design.
Since its establishment in 1978, BAVARIA YACHTS has delivered more than 42,000 yachts and has always remained loyal to its production site in Giebelstadt. All yachts are built there in the 70,000 square meter production facility with four production lines and can confidently bear the title “Made in Germany”.

Michael Müller took over as CEO of Bavaria Yachts in 2019 and played a key role in the development of all new sailing yachts in the successful BAVARIA C-Line range and powerboats in the new BAVARIA SR-Line.

As of July 1, Michael Müller will join the Advisory Board of Bavaria Yachtbau Holding under the leadership of the Chairman of the Advisory Board, Kai Brandes (CMP). He will therefore continue to be available to the Bavaria management as a contact person. In addition, Dr. Hans-Peter Mertens (President of the Stürtz Group, among others) has been appointed as an additional member of the Advisory Board.

On behalf of the Advisory Board of Bavaria Yachts Holding and the entire workforce, I would like to express my thanks and deep respect to Michael Müller for his work as CEO of Bavaria. The challenges of recent years – whether it’s the pandemic, supply chain issues or the coronavirus outbreak – have always been very demanding. Bavaria has surpassed them all. I am delighted that he will continue to support us as a member of the advisory board,” explains Kai Brandes, chairman of the advisory board of Bavaria Yachts and managing partner of the investor CMP in Berlin.
With its new organization, Bavaria Yachts feels ready for the future. By successfully implementing “airy” production to compensate for the fluctuating market demands in production, Bavaria Yachts already prepared two years ago for the challenges of a shrinking economy.

The current range of sailing and motor yacht models, which meets the current market requirements of demanding customers, is to be expanded to include e-drives, in order to attract new customers. In the future, the focus will be more on retaining and acquiring new customers.
The Bavaria family of future and current owners will benefit from an optimized customer journey, an extensive network of Bavaria service centers, a wider range of after-sales services and training courses.
