The European Boating Industry (EBI) and the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), the organisation behind the Blue Flag certification, have joined forces with a memorandum of understanding aimed at accelerating sustainable practices within the European nautical tourism sector. This collaboration reflects both organizations’ strong commitment to promoting innovation, environmental protection, and responsible growth across the industry.

Bringing together complementary experience, the partnership combines EBI’s influence in European leisure boating policy with FEE’s global leadership in sustainable tourism.

Through initiatives such as Blue Flag and Green Key, FEE sets internationally recognised standards, while EBI works directly with policymakers and industry players to promote sustainable development and connects the shipping sector at European level, from manufacturing to tourism and services. This collaboration creates a solid basis for unifying efforts, joint promotion and greater impact to support the nautical tourism sector.

The partnership is based on a shared commitment to achieve meaningful and responsible results.

The Foundation for Environmental Education is proud to formalize its collaboration with the European Association of the Nautical Industry through this memorandum of understanding. As custodians of the Blue Flag, one of the world’s most recognised voluntary eco-labels, we see this partnership as a key step forward in promoting sustainable practices in Europe’s recreational boating sector. By aligning with the EBI, we aim to strengthen our shared commitment to protecting the marine and coastal environment, while supporting innovation and responsibility in the recreational boating community. Together, we can chart a more sustainable course for the future of European waters.
