The 24-metre sailing yacht Rose made history by becoming the first boat in the race to achieve three consecutive overall victories in the Palma Superyacht Cup.
Before the final day of the 29th edition – the St. Regis Race Day – Rose was level on points with the 39-metre Cervo designed by Tripp and the 35-metre Southern Wind Gelliceaux. All three competitors were within four points, setting the stage for a thrilling clash in classic Palma conditions, with a steady breeze and calm waves.
In Class A, the spotlight was put on Cervo and Gelliceaux, the winner of their direct duel being prepared to achieve both the class victory and possibly the overall title. After a hard-fought race, Gelliceaux crossed the finish line just over a minute ahead of the corrected time, securing his class victory.
Meanwhile, the defending champion, Rose, competed in Class B against Y Yacht Sveam and a fleet of Baltic 68 Café Racers – Open Season, Ganesha, Pink Gin Verde and Scorpione Hormar. Although the Open Season scored three victories, the Café Racers were not eligible for the overall title as they are not classified as superyachts, leaving Rose to fight for the trophy.

Triumphant final for Rose
In the final score, Rose and Gelliceaux were tied with six points each. But, as Rose competed in the higher B-class, she achieved the overall victory. “What a phenomenal event,” said Rose team captain Ben Potter, “We are very pleased to have achieved the best result for the third year in a row.” He added: “It’s great to make history at the Superyacht Cup Palma. The boat went well, the crew fought hard and we are absolutely up to the task. With Café Racers on our side, we had more competition this time around – we felt like we were in for an intense fight.”
The event’s director, Kate Branagh, praised the quality of this year’s fleet: “We’ve seen incredible racing, with a remarkable lineup of yachts in near-perfect condition. Huge thanks to all the owners, captains and crews, as well as our valued partners – especially our new partner Venue Partner Club de Mar-Mallorca and our favourite hotel partner St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca, the sponsor of today’s final.”
The festivities concluded at the SYC Regatta Village with the awards ceremony, held by RSB Rigging Solutions, a long-standing partner of SYC, marking its 20th anniversary this year.
“It has been an honour to support the Superyacht Cup Palma over the years,” said RSB Managing Director Steve Branagh. “And what a year to attend – this historic victory will be remembered for a long time.”
The Superyacht Cup Palma will return for its 30th edition, between June 24 and 27, 2026.
