Start in the Setsail Black Sea Regatta

The yachting competition season in Romania opens this weekend, with the Setsail Black Sea regatta. Over 30 boats from Romania and Bulgaria are expected at the Setsail Black Sea regatta, which have announced their presence at the start of the three days of racing, at Marina Limanu.

At its 3rd edition, the Setsail Black Sea regatta sets new standards both in terms of the level of yachting competition in Romania and the events organized on the shore below. “We are happy to continue contributing to the growth of competitive yachting in Romania. If 4-5 years ago at the start of a yachting competition there were approx. 15-20 boats, today there are over 30 boats, more and more efficient and with an increasingly prepared crew. Some of the boats, including the Setsail boat, Farr 40, the pride of our school, are also training for international competitions. Through this consistent presence, we surpass countries with tradition in the yachting world such as Italy, Croatia or even Greece. We are also glad that an increasing number of spectators and amateurs follow the races, and more and more sponsors support the development of this sport in Romania.”, says Ovidiu Drugan, director of the SetSail Yachting School, the organizer of the SetSail Black Sea regatta.

The SetSail Black Sea Regatta also has a charitable component. The beneficiary foundation of the event is HOSPICE Casa Speranței, a non-profit organization founded in 1992 in Brașov, which introduced the concept of palliative care in Romania. HOSPICE is the largest foundation in the country that offers free specialized and complex services of this type for children and adults facing an incurable disease. “We are delighted to be a beneficiary cause of such a beautiful event. At HOSPICE, we believe in restoring the value of every moment of life and we thank the organizers for understanding and supporting the cause of palliative care in Romania. Good luck to all participants!”, said Mirela Nemțanu, CEO of HOSPICE. HOSPICE Casa Sperantei

About SetSail, the sailing school for recreational boat drivers, founded by Sorin Drugan
SetSail yachting school turns ordinary people into passionate sailors. The theoretical courses take place in Bucharest. SetSail instructors, most of them sea dogs, specialists in the field taught, turn the class hours into captivating experiences.“
When we opened the sailing school, 9 years ago, yachting was a sport practiced in a rather small caste. We aim to promote this complex sport and contribute to the development of the yachting community through yachting courses and regattas. We already have over 1,300 students, many of whom are our crewmates, competitors or even instructors in the school.”, said Ovidiu Drugan, director of SetSail.
