Tudor kicks off the summer with a new iteration of its popular Black Bay 54, this time in a striking “Lagoon Blue” configuration that blends mid-century naval heritage with contemporary design and manufacturing precision.
Water-resistant to 200 meters, the new version further strengthens the position of the Black Bay 54 as the most faithful homage to date to the original Tudor diving watch: the 1954 Oyster Prince Submariner (Ref. 7922).
With a diameter of 37 mm, the Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” closely retains the compact proportions that defined the first diving watches. This latest model from the manufacturer retains the aesthetic language of its predecessor, notably incorporating a “small” and unprotected crown and dispensing with the red triangle at 12 o’clock – a subtle allusion to the cleaner and more discreet dials of the first 7922 variants, appreciated by both the French and American Navy.
The dial of the new Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” features a beautiful sandy-textured finish rendered in a vivid light blue tone. This grainy surface contrasts with the fully polished unidirectional bezel, resulting in a visual play of matte and gloss that emphasizes the dual nature of the watch, both as a tool and as a refined accessory. The needles have also been adjusted for period-specific precision, now featuring a pinched base identical to those on the original 1954 model.
Although the design references are rooted in history, the Black Bay 54 “Lagoon Blue” is completely modern in itself. It’s powered by the factory-produced MT5400 calibre, which offers a robust 70-hour power reserve – enough to measure time over the course of an entire weekend without having to go back. The mechanism is COSC certified and operates with an accuracy tolerance of -2 to +4 seconds per day. Its silicone spring and variable inertia balance, fixed by a crossing bridge anchored at two points, ensure both durability and resistance to magnetic fields.

The MT5400 movement also receives the characteristic Tudor aesthetic finish. The tungsten one-piece rotor is openwork and satin-finished with sandblasted details, while the decks and main plate feature a combination of sandblasted and polished surfaces with laser-etched accents.
The watch is equipped with a 5-link stainless steel bracelet, completely satin, with Tudor’s own “T-fit” lock. This micro-adjustment system allows wearers to easily change the length of the bracelet in five steps over a range of eight mm – without tools. Ceramic ball bearings inside the lock provide a secure yet smooth locking mechanism.
