Casio has unveiled a significant development for its Edifice collection: the new EFK-100 series marks the first time the Japanese brand has equipped one of its technology-inspired sports watches with a mechanical mechanism.
It is a bold movement that combines traditional watchmaking with modern material innovation. For decades, Casio has been synonymous with precise quartz movements, functional digital watches, and reliable watches for everyday wear. Mechanical calibers were not part of the brand’s DNA. That is why the debut of the EFK-100 series is all the more unexpected and exciting. Even more surprising: this mechanical premiere comes under the sport-oriented Edifice label.

EFK-100
The EFK-100 range combines automatic mechanisms with a sporty-elegant design language and high-quality materials, offered at a particularly attractive price. The series includes five variants: four stainless steel variants, all priced at least $300, and a flagship version with a forged carbon case and dial. The latter uses a material sourced from aerospace engineering, now a staple in high-performance automotive design for its low weight and extreme durability.
The carbon piece, with the reference EFK-100XPB, is clearly the boldest in the collection. Its matte finish, marble-like carbon surfaces and soft resin strap create a distinctly technical, contemporary and sporty impression. All models strike a convincing balance: present, but never bulky. The carbon version measures 40 mm in diameter and 12.5 mm in height, while the stainless steel variants are even more compact at 39 mm, aligning with the current trend towards smaller chassis sizes.
Top finishes
Casio took this launch seriously, not only in terms of precision mechanics, but also in terms of finishes and materials. The steel models feature solid bracelets with secure folding buckles, which reflect the combination of polishing and brushing the case. Luminescent dials — either metallic gloss or carbon pattern — display great attention to detail: mirror-polished markers with beveled edges, skeletonized needles and a finely textured flange add depth and improve readability.
The EFK-100 is powered by the automatic caliber 5755, based on the Seiko NH35, a tested and verified model. It provides a 40-hour power reserve and a date indication at 6 o’clock. A screw-down display cover reveals the mechanism, while the dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. It’s obvious that the new products are in line with Casio’s commitment to everyday functionality: water resistance up to 10 bar ensures that the EFK-100 is as practical as it is refined.
