Pharrell Williams and adidas collaboration

adidas announces the launch of the long-awaited VIRGINIA Adistar Jellyfish sneakers from Pharrell Williams, in orange, which will be available on August 23rd.

Launched under the name VIRGINIA, now defining for Pharrell, the sneakers are deeply rooted in the spirit of his home state, meant to reach far beyond its borders.

A reimagined version of the adidas Adistar, the sporty model blends the heritage of performance with an evolved sculptural design for an expression of lifestyle. It exemplifies a striking fusion of art, technology, and free spirit, encapsulating Pharrell’s unique aesthetic while honoring the classic adidas silhouette. More than a sports model, the Jellyfish model exists between land and sea, street and sculpture, utility and imagination.

The sporty model features an exaggerated midsole that evokes the fluid, floating gills of a jellyfish. A layered mesh upper and exoskeleton elements add dimensional movement and futuristic depth, while a phosphorescent feature brings an otherworldly touch.

Marine life is also honored by other design elements. For example, the logo reflects the distinctive shape of the jellyfish. The custom “Jellyfish” lettering and subtle “VIRGINIA” branding appear on the insole and tongue, anchoring the concept in Pharrell’s world. VIRGINIA is more than geography; It’s a mentality.

Promotion through a special campaign

In a bold creative approach, Pharrell and adidas unveil the VIRGINIA Adistar Jellyfish model through a campaign built around the concept of divers obsessed with the beauty of jellyfish and based on a fictional coral reef. By creating an imaginary underwater world, the campaign avoids disturbing real environments while drawing attention to the ethereal power of jellyfish, a symbol of beauty and silent resilience.

Blending the heritage of performance with a fluid and sculptural design, the Jellyfish sneaker model floats between realism, dry and sea, street and sculpture, reality and imagination. Inspired by vintage images of diving and the visual language of vintage nature films, the campaign pays homage to the lives that exist beneath the surface.

Retailing for $300, Pharrell Williams’ VIRGINIA adistar Jellyfish model will be available in orange at select adidas retailers and online on adidas.com starting Aug. 23.
